I was recently criticized for criticizing the Large Evangelical Industrial Complex. “You are a Yaris trying to sideswipe a semi.” The conclusion I was supposed to draw was, “Stop going after the big guys.”
Of course, it must be foolish for the little guy to go after the giants, am I right? I mean, what was David thinking? Stupid Yaris with his stones.
LEIC is rampant with soft compromisers of truth. They compromise on sin. They compromise on repentance. They compromise in the places where the world applauds.
When soft compromisers are trusted as leaders, sheep are ravaged. For the love of Christ’s sheep and the cause of truth, it is a worthy thing for little men to oppose giants. When they do, and when God blesses their efforts, they’re like a Yaris mounted with a .50 cal machine gun.
When giants fall, it makes a heck of a sound. Well-worth the sling investment.
The charge from Christ is to fight the good fight and guard the good deposit. “If I profess, with the loudest voice and the clearest exposition, every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christianity. Where the battle rages the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace to him if he flinches at that one point.”
