Throwing Balls

“The supposed difficulty in understanding the language of the KJV can be remedied by habitual exposure to it. Understanding anything requires a circle of knowledge that includes specialized jargon. To someone unfamiliar with baseball, the statement “the batter drew a walk” is incomprehensible. Similarly, a stranger to baseball’s rules might find it odd that fans would jeer a pitcher for throwing balls when throwing a ball is his job. But it does not take long to figure out the language and rules of the game. For an older person, listening to younger people talking about computer technology or techniques is confusing. But if you listen long enough, you can figure out what it means to blog, even if you do not know the derivation of the word.”
